Enchanted forest with living bridges

Hidden in the depths of Cherrapunji in northeastern India is one of the wettest places on earth. Here, natural habitat grows at a remarkable pace, allowing the people of Cherrapunji – the War-Khasis – to manipulate the vines of trees into bridges.
To guide the tree’s roots and make them grow in the right direction, the Khasis use betel nut trunks, sliced down the middle and hollowed out, to create a system which guides the vines. This method is passed from generation to generation, the bridges always expanding as time goes by, a clever ingenuity which helps create an environment like an enchanted forest.
